PCLT

Hairegen is the first PCLT (Pinpoint Current Laser Therapy) technology based device.

Hairegen was developed specifically to help exploit the maximum personal potential for hair growth: stop excessive hair loss, thicken existing hair, and stimulate more active hair follicle cycling, thereby optimizing hair growth conditions. Hairegen’s unique technology combines the benefits of other known and proven hair therapies and adds patented treatment mechanisms unique only to Hairegen.

“Pinpoint” refers to the profile of stimulation delivered to the scalp: all energies are delivered in spatial and temporal localities. Spatial locality is achieved via the small metallic protrusions the come in contact with the scalp. Temporal locality refers to the brief stimulation time per pinpoint delivery. During a treatment session, many thousands of pinpoint stimulations are delivered to the scalp. Combining four treatment mechanisms that increases blood flow to the hair follicles, stimulates the body to maintain the scalp in optimal health functionality, by removing toxins and improving the living environment of the hair follicle. Hairegen stimulates the hair follicles to produce thicker hair. Hairegen ‘awakens’ and encourages dormant follicles to resume a healthy, functional, normal hair growth cycle.

Biochemical

The DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) hormone is the prominent enemy of balding-prone hair follicles on your head. This hormone can disrupt the normal cycle of hair growth in people with androgen-responsive hair follicles (e.g., in those genetically-prone to development androgenetic alopecia), which causes the hair follicles to miniaturize to a cosmetically-unacceptable state. DHT is created from testosterone by the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase in the sebaceous glands of the hair follicles. Zinc & copper are two elements known to inhibit the activity of 5-alpha-reductase causing less DHT to be created.

To inhibit the 5-alpha-reductase and so reduce levels of DHT hormone, Hairegen gently introduces trace amounts of zinc and copper onto the scalp via its metallic plates, targeting those areas most in need of treatment. The 0.5 mm protrusions on the circumference of the discs press against the scalp, and can slightly reach into the infundibulum, bringing the ions closer to their target.

Electrical

Micro-currents‏ are known to stimulate the skin, hair follicles and underlying tissues. Numerous medical and skin-treatment devices employ electrical currents in many types of pulses, frequencies, wave lengths, and voltage in the fields of dermatology, neurology, pain relief, and others. Hairegen safely administers electrical micro-currents to stimulate the skin. Unlike other devices, Hairegen uses pin-point technology to deliver the micro-currents to thousands of points for brief periods of time over the entire treated area. The micro-currents are well within safety margins and conform to EU & SII EMC regulations, with up to 300 micro-Ampere, and no more than 30 Volts. The voltage is applied between adjacent discs which are about 3 mm apart, strengthening the electrical field while keeping it within safe limits.

Mechanical

When the discs roll over the scalp, the protrusions along their circumference create thousands of pressure points. By rolling the discs back and forth, the pressure points are brief yet very stimulating to the skin. Due to the small size of the pressure points, their effect is significant without requiring a lot of force by the user.

The pressure point effect is augmented by the gentle vibration that occurs in 2D, with movements orthogonal to the scalp and also to the rolling path of the discs. The combined mechanical action improves blood flow in the scalp, which may provide better nutrition to the hair follicles, as well as toxin removal. Neural stimulation is also believed to take part in the regenerative effect that promotes scalp health and hair regrowth.

Optical (LLLT)

The scientific world acknowledges LLLT (Low Level Light Therapy) as an effective method for treating and regenerating hair growth. The theory behind this therapeutic method maintains that Light energy at these power levels (5 mW at source, wavelength of 650 nm) improves cell division, thereby accelerating the regeneration rate of the hair. Hairegen emits the Light energy from a short range, directly, while the discs separate and part the hair strands that blocks the Light beam from reaching the scalp, and onto the area receiving the mechanical, biochemical and electrical stimulation, forming the 4th stimulation applied onto the same area.
